Maybe I'm one of the weird ones but I really like the e-hugs and flowers shown as affection to others. It feels warm. On the other hand, I hate the uptight, stuck up, dogmatic, you're religion is s*** and mine is right arguments. Those "what do you think" threads always turn ugly. I don't believe they need to. Real humans write this stuff and there should be a measure of respect for them/us.

The JWD stigma about being "nice"
by changeling ini'm back from a little jwd break and i'm happy to see that things are not as volatile as when i left.
however, some things never change.
and one thing that seems to be a constant around here is the mentality of some very intelligent and knowledgeble ones (in their own minds at least) that if you are "nice" you are some how emotionally needy and/or not too bright.. i don't think the "happy people" on the board have anything against people with high iq's.

4 the Faders. How did u get out leading the cong in prayer while fading?
by blkblk13 ini've always had serious doubts but now that i am @ a point in my life were my parents have helped me to purchase my first place and now that i am no longer under their wing i feel like i am in a position to start doing something about it.
nothing drastic but just the beginnings of a gradual fade b/c i don't want to humiliate them in the circuit b/c they r very well-known and admired in the circuit, plus i owe them alot and am still a little financially dependent on them.
so my dad is an elder and conducts the bookstudy.

Maybe each year squeeze another meeting out of your busy schedule til you are down to just the Sunday meeting. Your work is a good excuse to use. A lot of people use that excuse.

Why go at all? There are two other meetings in which to make an appearance. I would get scheduled to work that night.

If only the PO can read the letter the Society doesn't trust the elders
by truthseeker infrom all the reports here, it seems that only the presiding overseer can read the letter re: book study change - the elders aren't even allowed to know about it until at the earliest, a few minutes before the sunday meeting.. doesn't this demonstrate lack of trust in the boe by the faithful and discreet slave?.
they must know about renegade elders posting here.. the presiding overseer is really just another elder who represents the boe..

So, the bookstudy change is for sure? There goes the place to get the secret announcement of where to meet during the great tribulation. You remember that the bookstudy was the place we were told that we had to meet in order to get a new meeting location announcement every meeting so the bad guys would not be able to find us? They are canceling our lifeline! Hehehe!

NEW TRACT CAMPAIGN PLANNED....
by sir82 in....for october 20 - november 16.. there is a new tract to be introduced, with the title "do you want to know the truth?".
it is not a "kingdom news" campaign - after the campaign, this tract will join the "regular rotation" of tracts to be used in the field misery.. it is designed to replace the "do you want to know more about the bible" tract - the goal is to use it to start "bible" studies.. the goal is to cover all of the congregation's territory in 4 weeks, similar to other campaigns in the past.
unlike other campaigns, though, the congregations can order as many as they would like - they are not limited to 50 per publisher.

Special resolutions, special campagnes, special this, special that...nothing feels very special anymore. After two years out, I notice how so very un-special anything remotedly related to this religion is.

How the new "generation" study went down in the meeting today
by slimboyfat ini made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.
i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.
well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.

Apparently we do need the critical thinking class in college as it is compulsory for a degree. It helped me to form good arguments and recognize bad ones. Bad one number one: If you are not for Jehovah, you are against him and for Satan. Logic doesn't come naturally for all of us born-ins because we were never allowed to ask those kinds of questions, but when we learn how to apply logic to everything, it's priceless!

I'm completely confused. I just can't seem to keep up with these changes now that I'm out. I'm so used to thinking logically thanks to going to college finally, that none of what they tell people to believe appears logical anymore. I was never trained to think logically until a couple of years ago. It just keeps me confused. I know that is a good thing, but wow are they ever being duped! It appears so clear now how easy it is to fool the R&F. How embarrassing, and they don't even know it's happening to them. Blows my mind!
